New Zealand art lovers visit the Pharoah Gallery

A group of art lovers currently touring South Africa spent the afternoon at The Pharoah Gallery in Wilderness.

Peter gave an impromptu painting demonstration presenting our lucky visitors from New Zealand with an insight into his style and technique.

He described how an artwork is crafted; including the materials, tools and colours used then demonstrated two distinctly different approaches to the creation process. In the first demonstration, he revealed the procedure of creating a portrait by beginning with a white background and adding detail in black as the initial layer. In the second demonstration, he began with burnt sienna as the base colour and by scraping away areas, the face began to emerge; much to delight of his enthusiastic onlookers.

Our guests were captivated, taking away happy memories of their visit to the Pharoah Gallery; we thoroughly enjoyed spending the afternoon with them and hope to see them again in the future.
